Companies in the German timber industry, including furniture producers, delivered a 9.7% upturn in revenues to €3.005bn in March after recording double-digit growth rates in January and February of this year. The core timber production industry, which does not include furniture manufacturers, booked a 14.8% rise in turnover to €1.354bn. Revenues improved both domestically (+15.7%) and abroad (+12.5%). All areas enjoyed significant growth, albeit not quite as strong as in the first two months of 2011. Once again, sawmill operators (+27.8%) and packaging producers (+34.8%) recorded the strongest increases. Parquet flooring manufacturers recorded a double-digit growth of 10.1%. Wood-based panels producers (+9.5%), building-related companies (+9.1%) and other wood product suppliers (+4.7%) posted slightly smaller improvements in the month of March.
